Flora Europaea biennal, TH, 2n=18, diploid xeric, arenophile, azonal for the sandy sea shores western Palearctic (the species), Circumpontic (the subspecies) Elymion gigantei, Cakilion maritimae R16 habitats         This sea shore arenophile species is divided into four subspecies across the coasts of Europe (an Atlantic, a Mediterranean, a Baltic and a Pontic one).
